A great and historical structure which made by Dutch with the shape of star. The main purpose for build this place to secure the fort. There is six pointed star with placed large 12 cannons which could increase the security and defense. Not even that Dutch needed to protect the Matara fort from any attack which can happen via Nilwala River and that is why they have built this star shaped well protected place as supportive thing for main fort. This place was specially made for someone very special person who should protect in case of any sudden attack. There is a well inside of the fort with pure water. There is a deep moat still preserved well and there is prison inside. There is a museum today which displays more colonial things. During the British time they used this place for their official works. This star fort is a great evidence to proven about the structural things built in colonial era with maximum military power. The museum was well exhibit everything and entrance to the fort still same in colonial era and archeological department well protected the ancient things.
